Economic Impacts
- Increased demands are generated for a broad range of business enterprises as a result of the activities of Toys for Tots. For example:
- Donations to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation are used to purchase large quantities of toys for distribution by Marines in local communities,
- The Foundation arranges the manufacture and printing of a broad range of promotional materials, which are used by Marines to promote the program throughout their local communities,
- The Foundation’s fund raising projects and day to day work involved in supporting the national level program involves the following economic endeavors: communication, automation, accounting firms, electronic data management firms, mail handling companies, banks, investment companies, public relations firms, marketing companies, Federal Express and the U. S. Postal Service,
- The Foundation provides win-win situations for corporations with large quantities of toys that fill warehouses and show up as large inventories on financial statements. By donating these toys to the Foundation, the corporations can eliminate warehouse charges, remove the inventories from financial statements and take tax deductions. Most importantly, thousands and sometimes millions of needy children are able to experience the joy of Christmas because a corporation donates its excess toy inventory to Toys for Tots.
