In August, Marine Toys for Tots partnered with Tackle Hunger and a network of dedicated partners to bring joy, dignity, and essential resources to disadvantage children in Austin, Texas. Hosted at Williams Elementary School—a Title I funded school supporting an underserved urban community—the Tackle Hunger Back-to-School event welcomed 354 families with open arms and open hearts.

Each child in attendance received a backpack filled with school supplies, thanks to the generosity of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, and a toy provided by Toys for Tots to mark the start of a new academic year with excitement and encouragement. NFL Alumni Stephen Braggs lent his support, reminding children that their dreams are worth chasing.
“It wasn’t just about handing out supplies—it was about restoring confidence. You could see it in the children’s eyes when they realized someone cared,” shared one volunteer.
The event was a testament to the power of collaboration. With six volunteers, strategic coordination led by Tackle Hunger’s Executive Director, Allison Reese, and the support of local organizations including Kids Hope USA and Austin Independent School District, the afternoon unfolded seamlessly—filled with smiles, laughter, and stories of resilience.

This event is one of many ways Toys for Tots brings its mission to life—supporting children in need not only during the holiday season, but throughout the entire year. By providing tangible resources and moments of joy, Toys for Tots continues to build bridges of hope toward brighter tomorrows for disadvantaged children across the country.
