Disaster Response and Recovery

“While our hearts ache for those affected, our dedication to assisting those in need remains steadfast.” – LtGen Laster

Program Background

The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Disaster Response and Recovery Program is to support children and families impacted by natural disasters by providing comfort, hope, and emotional relief through toys, books, and essential resources—working in collaboration with local agencies to help restore a sense of normalcy during recovery.

We are mindful of the life-saving efforts of first responders and always ensure our efforts complement, not interfere, with theirs. When the time is appropriate, we work with local agencies in the affected areas and provide emotional relief packages for distribution events to support the families and children impacted by natural disasters.

The Disaster Response and Recovery Program has supported:

  • Children and families in Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee impacted by 2022 tornadoes.
  • Children and families facing hardships from toxic chemicals after the 2023 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
  • Over 12,000 children in northern Florida receiving emotional relief after Hurricane Idalia in 2023.
  • Children and families affected by the devastating wildfires in Maui.
  • Over 2,600 families impacted by Hurricane Helene in Henderson County, North Carolina.
  • Children and families in Los Angeles communities who lost everything due to wildfires.
