Since 1947, the Marine Toys for Tots Program has stood as the Nation’s premier children’s Christmastime charity, delivering more than 732 million toys, books, and games to 325 million disadvantaged children across the United States.
While the Program’s core mission is to bring joy and hope to children through our annual Holiday Campaign—including Native American children living on remote reservations through our Toys for Tots Native American Program—our compassion doesn’t follow a calendar. Children face challenges beyond the holiday season, which is why Toys for Tots remains a steadfast, year‑round force for good. Through efforts such as our Toys for Tots Literacy Program, Foster Care Program, and Disaster Response and Recovery Program, we provide comfort, encouragement, and resources to children in need across every season.
Recently, Marine Toys for Tots Foundation President & CEO, Lieutenant General Jim Laster, USMC (Retired) joined Montel Williams on the nationally televised morning show on Lifetime Television, The Balancing Act, to discuss how the Program has evolved into a year‑round force for good. Their conversation offered viewers an inside look at the breadth of Toys for Tots’ year-round programs—all created to support children long after the holidays have ended. Montel’s personal commitment to service, veterans, and uplifting families makes this segment especially meaningful, helping to introduce millions of viewers to the heart behind the mission.
“Our segment on The Balancing Act was an extraordinary opportunity to show families nationwide that Toys for Tots delivers hope throughout the year,” said LtGen Laster. “Reaching viewers in their homes deepens our ability to connect children with the support and comfort they deserve.”
The segment was a profound reminder that hope doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people choose to care. And thanks to The Balancing Act, more Americans than ever have the opportunity to join Toys for Tots in delivering that hope to children everywhere.
