Earlier this summer, HEART, a Good360 non-profit partner, hosted events that served more than 800 children in need across communities in Minnesota. Children and families received brand new toys, provided by Marine Toys for Tots, to kick off their summer break. The first event took place in Shakopee, Minnesota, and provided 330 underprivileged children with coloring books, stuffed animals, fidget spinners, and more. Members of the Shakopee Police and Fire Departments helped distribute the gifts to children and parents who also enjoyed outdoor games, music, and snacks. The second event was held in Rosemont, Minnesota, where HEART distributed Lego sets, books, and puzzles to more than 400 children in need.
HEART also served more than 200 less fortunate children living on the Red Lake Indian Reservation and Bonnevista Mobile Home Park at a “Special Birthday Party” distribution event in early August. Each child received a large toy, a smaller toy, a coloring book, and card games. Everyone in attendance left feeling empowered and excited for the summer months with the new items that were provided by Toys for Tots!
Tony Caterina, HEART Director, explained how these special distributions unite community members across neighborhoods. “These events make a great deal of children happy. The Summer Picnic brought an incredibly diverse crowd, and the officers’ participation was a hit with the kids,” said Tony. “It was amazing to see the police and community come together at this special event. Thank you to Toys for Tots and Good360 for this donation!”
The distribution events included music, cupcakes, and birthday decorations. Families expressed appreciation by dancing, laughing, and playing with their new toys at the party. These were joyous occasions and more examples of how Toys for Tots continues to DoGoodNow and bring a Summer of Smiles to children in need Nationwide!
