Hess Corporation
Our Values Guide Our Business
Our Corporate Values reinforce our commitment to traditional Hess strengths and underscore the qualities that define us as a leading global independent energy company. At Hess, six core values guide our actions as individuals at work and as a corporation: Integrity, People, Performance, Value Creation, Social Responsibility and Independent Spirit. They are the basic building blocks of our organization’s culture and represent our company’s collective conscience. While our strategy changes over time based on business conditions, our values are enduring.
We are committed to meeting the highest standards of corporate citizenship and creating a long lasting positive impact on the communities where we do business.
Hess is committed to building trusted partnerships with communities, employees, customers and investors. We partner with host governments, community groups and other stakeholders to develop programs that can make a measureable and sustainable difference. Following our Hess Values, we operate safely, protect the environment, obey laws, respect diverse cultures and do the right thing for the people in the communities where we work and live.
“Hess is a company that genuinely cares about its employees.”
Hess has proven to be a true friend in times of need to many of the communities where it operates. In this video, Ron Ness, president of the North Dakota Petroleum Council, and Chuck VanAllen, then vice president Global Unconventionals at Hess, discuss how Hess honored its commitment to North Dakota, especially in the aftermath of devastating floods in Minot in June 2011. It features Hess Chairman and CEO John Hess, who stressed that Hess would act “as a force for good” during a time of need. In addition to donating $1 million to flood relief in North Dakota, Hess suspended operations for two weeks so employees could help with rescue and clean-up efforts. “I work for a company that genuinely cares about its employees and the community where it does business,” said Hess Human Resources associate Kimberly Carlson.
