CARE Community Center is a Good360 Community Redistribution Partner (CRP) that empowers the people they serve through authentic relationships and mentoring. They provide households in Rogers, Arkansas, with the tools they need to overcome poverty and maintain self-sufficiency.
Earlier this summer, CARE Community Center hosted a distribution event that served over 1,800 children with gifts, provided by Toys for Tots. On the event day, the Rogers community experienced one of the worst thunderstorms of the year, but that didn’t stop the dedicated team members and volunteers from making sure every child who attended the event left with the toys.
“Our volunteers were troopers and braved the rain to ensure the event happened and was a remarkable success,” said Kimberly Porter, Executive Director at CARE Community Center. “CARE provided toys by utilizing a drive-through approach to keep the families out of the rain.”
CARE’s commitment to bringing joy to the youth in their area shined through despite the rain. Team members and volunteers at CARE even sang happy birthday to a few children in attendance, which was a special moment for everyone involved.
The remaining donations from the distribution event were sent to children in the foster care program, emergency shelters, and programs serving at-risk and disabled youth.
